Personal Statement
As a competitive swimmer, I have remained dedicated to working relentlessly to achieve my goals and aspirations both in and out of the pool. Concerning my future collegiate endeavors, I hope to increase my speed and agility in the 50-meter swim events while remaining consistent in my academic pursuits. I believe that I am a good candidate for a collegiate level swim team due to my strong work ethic and commitment to leading by example.
My work ethic and leadership were further explored throughout my high school years, where I was competitively selected as a team leader on the Rehab Sporting Club Swim Team. Through my position, I implemented proper sportsmanship among my teammates, which aided in avoiding conflict between tough opponents. In addition, I worked tirelessly to encourage my teammates to remain dedicated to the sport that we all love, which pushed everyone to the next level. More specifically, in the Cairo, Egypt 2023 Official Championship, I placed in the city’s top ten swimmers in the 50 free events under the high school division. Soon after, I noticed more of my teammates placing as top ten swimmers over the next couple of months. Not only did our combined successes boost our confidence as swimmers, but they also brought us together as a family.
In addition to swimming, my relentless spirit has earned me academic success. For example, throughout all four years of high school, I have repeatedly been chosen as a class representative in the Jesuite School of Cairo. Through my position, I have attended meetings concerning environmental sustainability on campus, bullying prevention, and inclusivity among students. In doing so, I was able to help improve the state of my high school while also serving as a positive mentor for my peers.
I am different from other recruits because I lead with passion. To me, this means pushing through tough conditioning sets. It means never skipping a day of practice. It means prioritizing being on time to meets. Above all, it means always showing up, even during the toughest times.
As a student athlete based in Egypt, I recognize that my goals to be a collegiate level swimmer in America are ambitious. Rather than allowing this to hinder me, I am using it as fuel for success. As an aspiring candidate for a future collegiate level swim team, I hope to continue leading a life of leadership and service as I work to grow to my fullest potential.
