Personal Statement
Dear Coach and Coach Assistant,
My name is Benmoussa Omar, and I am a Moroccan prospective student-athlete who is incredibly passionate about swimming. I started swimming when I was 5 years old and quickly developed a strong passion for the sport. By the age of 7, I began participating in national competitions, showcasing my talent and dedication to swimming.
Two years later, I earned a place in the top group of my swimming team, a significant achievement that further fueled my drive for excellence. Subsequently, I was honored to be chosen to represent the National Moroccan team, where I gained invaluable experience and training through a rigorous boot camp. This experience has shaped me as a swimmer and allowed me to perform well in numerous international competitions.
Throughout my swimming career, I have achieved notable milestones. I have had the privilege of participating twice in the Arab Swimming Championships:
Casablanca 2019: 1st place in 200 fly & 3rd place in 400 freestyle- Arab Championship
Tunis 2019 : 1st place in 200 fly- Africa Championship
Abu Dhabi 2021: 3rd place in 200 fly & 3rd place in 400 individual medley- Arab Championship
In addition to my athletic achievements, I am also part of the Moroccan swimming project JIL 24 JIL 28. This prestigious project brings together the best swimmers in Morocco, offering intensive training camps during school vacations in order to potentially participate in the Olympic worldwide games. Being part of this project has not only enhanced my skills but also provided me with a sense of camaraderie and the opportunity to learn from other talented athletes.
Beyond swimming, I am highly committed to my academic pursuits. I recently completed the regional baccalaureate exam, achieving a remarkable score of 17.15/20. Furthermore, I have consistently maintained an outstanding class GPA of 18.76 out of 20, reflecting my dedication to academic excellence.
Regarding my academic interests, I am particularly drawn to majors related to engineering, physics, and chemistry. I believe that combining my passion for swimming with my academic pursuits in the STEM fields will provide me with a well-rounded liberal arts educational experience and contribute positively to the success of the swimming team
I am genuinely excited about the opportunities that can offer college both academically and athletically. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
