Personal Statement
I’ve always loved competing since grade school. However, after joining a high-performance swim club, Aquatech, in 2021 I was exposed to an environment where fellow swimmers were as ambitious as me and were willing to work hard to achieve their goals. This was where my dream of becoming a student athlete in college came from.
I am an all-around swimmer who specialises in IM and freestyle. My philosophy as a swimmer is to train with intent and focus on how I can become faster in as few practices as possible. I am dedicated to teamwork and like to encourage my teammates especially during tough sets. I am cooperative with coaches and have no ego, so that I am able to learn from more experienced people. One thing that I’ve learned was that if I want to become great at my sport, I needed to make sacrifices.
In and out of the classroom, I study hard and maintain good grades. I have also taken part in my school’s yearly service award, where I raised money for migrant workers. In addition, I’ve volunteered at club meets and helped out with learn-to-swim programs.
I am excited to join an ambitious swim program and excel as a student athlete, with the goal of competing for my national team in international competitions. I hope to seize every moment to develop as an individual and make my parents proud.
