Personal Statement
My name is Philip Cinpoes, and I have been a competitive swimmer for over a decade. I am extremely driven in pursuing my aspiration to swim at collegiate level. I compete with both British and Romanian teams and I have repeatedly placed in the top ten for both countries' national championships. Additionally, I have been selected for Swim England's national talent development programme, as well as currently being part of England's highest ranked team for my age group.
In terms of my swimming abilities, I qualified for both the British and Romanian national championships for all freestyle events between 100 free and 1500 free. At this point in time, my highest ranking positions in Britain within my age group are 1500 free (SCM) - 3rd, 400 free (SCM) - 6th, and 200 free (SCM) - 8th.
I believe that competing at collegiate level in the US would greatly help me in achieving my full potential within the sport. I have managed to reach national level with my first swimming club (a small local one). Since moving, in September 2023, to Mount Kelly School and joining the much more highly competitive training environment here, I have already seen a drastic improvement in my swimming technique and speed.
I am convinced that my full commitment to and full enjoyment of the sport in all its dimensions (training and competing), as well as my focus on academic achievements would be a valuable asset to a team and college. This is not only due to my individual contribution in the pool, but also through supporting team mates outside the pool, in order to help enhance team spirit and collegiality.
