Carson Crochet '23 Recruiting Profile

Swimming over these past few years has helped me grow as a person while making me stronger and more focused as an individual. when I started competitive swimming at the end of the 7th grade I barely knew what I was doing, and I only went to practice about 3-4 times a week, then as seasons went along and through being able to talk to and be coached by numerous coaches I realized the amount of training and dedication it takes to even be called decent at this sport. So now over the past three to four seasons I have held an average of 95%-99% attendance and I give my all during every practice as my goal is to be one of the best at what  do. I like to race at practice and at meets, and sprint sets are always more exciting when getting work done at practice compared to distance sets.

It is with great honor that I write a letter of recommendation for Carson Crochet. I have had the wonderful opportunity to coach Carson the past year and a half at Tiger Aquatics. I have also served as coach for various other groups while Carson was a member. This has given me an incredible opportunity to witness first-hand his exceptional character both in and out of the pool.

Carson is what I consider a late bloomer both physically and mentally. I truly feel like he has not begun to tap into his true ability. Carson came into year around swimming at a very late age, 14, and has worked extremely hard to catch up and now pass his peers. Carson is one of the most dedicated, hardworking, kind individuals I have coached. His determination and true drive are what separates him from his peers.

Over the past season Carson has shown great interest in asking and doing extra work to help improve. His self-motivation and tenacity allow him to continue to reach his goals both in and out of the water.

Another rare and priceless quality is Carson’s ability to encourage those around him by his focus and work ethic. As a coach, I have never questioned his work ethic nor his attitude. His ability to encourage others to work hard just by his actions is truly inspiring. His confidence allows him to challenge others in all various events, not just his primary ones. He is definitely a swimmer I would love to have around forever.

I am confident that Carson will be an asset not only to your swim program but to your entire university. He has been a delight to coach and I am certain he will be for your program as well. I can promise you this, you will never find a kinder, more polite athlete than Carson Crochet.
