Evan Wardrop '23 Recruiting Profile

In 2012, I joined my first competitive swim team and immediately fell in love with the sport of swimming. At first it was just a fun after school activity, but after lots of time spent in the pool it became more than that. At age 10 I won the 50 yard backstroke at YMCA States and was ecstatic, all the pieces finally started coming into place, swimming was something that I truly was passionate about. Throughout my years of swimming I have set many goals for myself, and continue to make more as I achieve others. I’ve learned that hard work, determination, and perseverance, always ends in achieving those goals. Due to the current conditions we’re in, I’ve had limited practice time in the water, but have continued to get stronger and grow outside of the pool by working out almost every day.

When I am not in the pool, I strive to do my best in my academics with honors and AP classes, along with many other extracurricular activities I am involved with. I am an active member of my school's theater program where I am able to let the creative side of me take flight. In addition, I currently serve as a student council representative for my class, where I am able to communicate with my fellow classmates and bring their concerns to the administration. Many of my classmates would describe me as the funny, humorous, encouraging, supportive, and hardworking friend. I aspire to make people laugh, and will always bring a positive mindset and attitude wherever I go.
