I have loved swimming since I was introduced as a child. I have always been able to be successful in anything I put my mind to, especially when it is something I am passionate about.
Over the years I have learned to become very diligent and focused. Very often practices are long and twice per day. Additionally, I would wake up at 5:30 in the morning to get a workout in to balance my fitness goals. I am constantly striving to tweak my diet and exercise for peak performance. Health and fitness is very important to me and my family.
I started on my town's recreational team as a 10-year-old and have been drastically improving ever since. My first major accomplishment was setting a relay record for the team as an 11-year-old with 3 other long-time teammates.
Sometimes hard work is not all that is needed for success. One of my biggest challenges to date was when I was 12 years old. I fractured my shoulder and was told to not use it and let it heal for several weeks that seemed like an eternity. I was however able to kick for majority of the season and strengthened my lower body quite a bit. As it turned out, I had great end to the season breaking 4 records.
There is always something to strive towards. I just completed my junior HS season by winning the state championship in the 50 free (21.13) and 100 free (46.48) as well as contributing to the fly leg of the winning medley relay (22.82) and the winning 200 free relay (21.23). The 200 free relay broke the D2 state record and made All American consideration with a 1:25.60.
My next set of goals are to break the varsity record for the 50 free at 20.50 and 100 free at 45.66. It would be a great success if I am also able to break the MA state freestyle records. I have been featured in the Boston Globe three times as a Globe All Star so far for placing highly throughout my high school career.
I have strong skills in math & science and my career avenue may be leaning towards engineering. I am an independent thinker and am intrigued by the possibilities of entrepreneurship.
