My name is Christopher “Conrad” Varhola. As the son of military parents, I have moved around my entire life. Whether living in Africa, Europe, or the U.S., swimming has been the one constant in my life that I could do anywhere. I learned to swim in the Indian Ocean and have competed throughout Africa and Europe. I want to continue this as part of my scholar-athlete goals. It is my intent to study chemistry in college pursuant to a career in medicine. I also want to commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy and serve my country as a Navy SEAL. Swimming at the college level will provide the physical and mental challenge to push me to the next level. I love competition and embrace hard work. I want to be challenged and am not afraid of pain. I have three varsity letters in swimming. I was “most improved” swimmer my freshman year, MVP my sophomore year, and selected as team Captain my junior year. In 2019 I also placed 2nd in the 50m and 100m freestyle at the European Forces Swim League (EFSL) championships. I love swimming, my teammates, and the camaraderie, values, and character-building this sport embodies. Most importantly, though, I never quit nor complain.
