In college, I want to not only become a better swimmer than I have ever been or have ever thought of being, I want to become a better person as well. At whatever level that may be, I just want to be sure that I put everything I have into my craft. I believe that hard work is essential in the sport of swimming, and is what drives all swimmers to push each other to the next level. In my opinion, hard work can always overcome talent if you are willing to break the barrier that is comfortable for you. I would like to think that I am able to push people to new heights during training season, and it helps to push me as well. I also believe that the hard work shown in the pool should also translate into areas outside of the pool. Academics translate into a student's entire life after college, so it must be attended to that way. It is a top priority in my mind, and I put the same amount of mental work into school as I would physically in the pool. I am confident in the idea that hard work will make you and the people around you better as a whole.
