I am a sophomore at Exeter High School in Exeter, New Hampshire. Over the years I have been with SAU16 school district, I met many caring and enthusiastic teachers who have helped me reach my full potential. My passion for hard sciences came through right away, hence why, I was always placed in advanced math classes. In addition to academics, I have much appreciation for sports and active lifestyle. I briefly tried cross country and would always finish among the top ten, but I have been fully committed to swimming ever since I was a toddler and I am part of Phoenix Swimming Club in Haverhill, Mass. It is through swimming that I developed such qualities as discipline, responsibility, setting goals and taking actions to achieve them.
In my spare time, my parents and I volunteer at the Sunflower of Peace Organization based in Boston, Mass. We volunteer our time and money to help alleviate poverty in Ukraine. Since both of my parents have Ukrainian roots, this cause is very important to us.
Outside of school, I enjoy various outdoor activities New Hampshire has to offer. In the winter, I like skating and sledding with my friends. In the wormer months, I like hiking in the woods, ocean waverunning/jetskiing with my dad, wakeboarding on a lake, spearfishing, freediving in the ocean, and camping with friends and family. Some of my unforgettable experiences are riding alongside whales and dolphins in the Atlantic Ocean, swimming with large turtles in the Ionian Sea, seeing huge jellyfish in the Mediterranean Sea, and swimming in the underground river beneath the jungle of Riviera Maya. Standing next to the Colosseum, touching the walls of The Acropolis, or walking among ruins in Ancient Olympia will stay in my memory forever.
I am excited about a college experience that lies ahead of me and know that I will do great because I have strong work ethic and communicate well with peers, teachers, and coaches. I motivate myself and other swimmers on my team because when everyone’s individual times improve, the team does well as a whole.
