Dear Coach…
My name is Christopher Rieseberg and I live in the small town of Hanover, N.H. I will be a senior next year and very much looking forward to what comes next in both my swimming and academic life.
When it comes to swimming, I am a member of both the Upper Valley Aquatics Club (UVAC) and the Hanover High School Swim teams.
I have been a member of the UVAC team for 5 years now. As a member of the UVAC team, I typically practice 6 days per week, sometimes twice per day throughout most of the year. It is my hope to continue to grow as a swimmer and to compete in college at the national level.
In addition to UVAC, this will be my 4th year on the Hanover High School team. As a member of the team, I have been fortunate to help the team to win two consecutive State Championships – the first time in the School’s history. During my senior year, I will serve as team Captain.
In both cases, I have very much enjoyed being part of a team, working with my teammates, improving my skills and the overall physical fitness that comes with being a swimmer. I work hard to be the best swimmer that I can be and to support my team in every way possible.
Swimming and being part of a team has given me many of the same skills that I will need to be successful in life, e.g. what it means to be part of a team, dedication, working with others, and perseverance to name a few. I look to be the best I can be both in and out of the pool.
Academically, I consider myself to be hard-working, creative and always striving to understand more about the world around me. I have learned that my teachers are also my “coaches” and that they are there to guide me along in my studies. Despite my swimming schedule, working to become an Eagle Scout and Asst. Scout Master, my part-time job and social activities, I have maintained a B average throughout my high school years.
As I progress to college, I hope to continue my interest in working with and helping others by pursuing a career in psychology. I hope to build a career focused on young people and doing what I can to help guide them through the rigors of childhood into positive and successful adult lives.
I think all of my activities and experiences to date have taught me the importance of hard work, how to get along well with others, the importance of working as a team, accountability, initiative, learning from others and the value of communication.
I very much want swimming to be a major part of my college experience. I am looking for just the right college where I can grow and compete as a swimmer, where I can prepare for a meaningful and rewarding career and where I can grow as a person – in other words the right balance for these important goals.
If my background and skills as a swimmer are of interest to you, I would very much like to have a chance to talk with you about how I can contribute to your team.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my story…
Most Sincerely,
Christopher C. Rieseberg
