Competitive swimming is one of my favorite things to do. I cannot believe that my senior year high school season is almost over. We have six really top swimmers on the team. Recently our A 200 Medley team broke the school record by three seconds. On 1/21/23 in the Coaches Invitational we swam a 1:42.64 (I swam butterfly) ... we need to drop one more second to make states. That would be fantastic! On a personal level I have improved this season. I have dropped two seconds in 100 Fly and four seconds in 200 IM. Last year we lost seven seniors last year and it amazing at how well our new recruited swimmers have improved over the season. The best part of Absegami swimming is the team atmosphere. Our high school swim team has really good sportsmanship and we support all swimmers no matter what their level or their team. Absegami has been known to cheer for other teams too.
When I am not swimming, music is a big part of my life. I play multiple instruments including saxophone, guitar, keyboard, bass, and the ukulele. I love music from the 70s. Some of my favorite songs are from the Beatles, the Eagles, and the Rolling Stones. My family just went to Nashville, TN this past summer and music was everywhere. I enjoyed listening to the live music and requesting songs. We also went to the Grand Ole Opry which is a must-do when visiting Nashville.
Currently, I am focused on history with a teaching degree for high school as a major. In June I went to the American Legion Jersey Boys State week at Rider University. It was a great opportunity to learn more about our political system. This year, I am taking a couple of history classes. One is a military history class which is really different from previous history classes I have taken so far. The reason I am leaning toward becoming a high school history teacher is that I like to follow politics and watch elections unfold. I believe in the importance of voting and I think I would like to inspire young adults to understand the importance of voting and how our election system works.
