When I set my mind to something, I accomplish it. I know anyone can say that, but past experiences in my life can certainly attest to that. When I was 12 years old, I was the second fastest at the 50 free, and eighth fastest at the 100 free in the country. I was not able to achieve this success because I was inordinately larger than my competition - in fact, I was significantly smaller and skinnier in most cases - but because I reminded myself before every practice, that my competition was working hard that day, so I had to work harder. Devastatingly, the next year, when I was 13, I developed an overuse injury in both my shoulders, so serious, that swimming was not a guaranteed part of my future. Nonetheless, I refused to accept this obstacle as an hindrance, but rather as a challenge that would make me a better athlete and person. Although the process has been arduous, and it feels as if with every step I take forward, I take two back, I know I can fulfill my potential, and I do not even know where my potential ends. I look forward to the 2013-2014 swim season for my club team, Cougar Aquatic Club, and hope that I can once again remind everyone of who Will Zaubler is, like I did when I was younger.
