I have been living the swimming lifestyle since I was in 2nd grade. I am passionate about swimming and strive to do my best in all practices and meets. I want to pursue a major in Biochemistry and pre-medicine. I currently have a 4.2 GPA and am looking for a school that will challenge me academically and athletically. I do well in school and enjoy all subjects, but math and science are my favorite subjects. They are challenging and engaging and make me think to find solutions. I enjoy cycling and running and I am also interested IT and computer graphic and video design.
Time management is a very important part of my life. Successfully balancing athletics, academics and extras is an important key to success. Right now I primarily split my time between swimming and academics, but still manage to find time to volunteer in my community and spend time with friends. I am a member of SAY (Student Advocates for Youth) Leadership and volunteer in my community to assist others that are less fortunate than I am. I have also been active in my community's BBYO youth group. I feel it is important to give back to your community. I am committed to applying these same time management skills to my collegiate and athletic endeavors; making use of unscheduled time during the day to complete assignments and projects so I can be totally engaged in practices and meets.
I am competitive and enjoy the camaraderie of my teammates, I guess you could call me a quiet leader. I choose to lead by example; by my dedication to the sport and by my support for my teammates and their accomplishments. Hard work and dedication and loyalty are very important qualities to me and whatever team I am on, athletic or academic, I will display these qualities.
Swimming in the age of COVID-19 has been challenging; I chose not to swim high school last year and trained with my club team. I really missed the in-person competition. I have friends on other teams in my region that I look forward to seeing. We have grown up together, we are friends and rivals competing, challenging, and pushing each other to grow and be the best we can be. It's so good to be back in the pool competing with all of them.
I am looking forward to finding the right school that offers the right combination of academics, athletics, extracurricular and friendships that will help me grow and succeed and to which I can contribute academically and athletically.
