My freshman year in high school I was lucky enough to be on a water polo team that made it to the state finals. The team had a history of crushing in the state games, but that wasn't the case that year. We lost the game after a seven-year winning streak. All though I didn't play in that game I had never been more motivated to win then after that loss. Since then I have won two consecutive state titles and plan on a third. While training for water polo, I cross-trained with swimming to get into the best shape possible. I slowly became less interested in winning water polo games and became more interested in winning heats and events in swimming. This switch from water polo to swimming showed me that I am willing to put in the work to be the best athlete I can be and that my determination to win can only be overshadowed by my commitment to push myself and my teammates.
My goals, however, are not strictly in the fields of athletes. I hope to attend college for Biology and any other major that will help me achieve my goal of becoming a licensed chiropractor. Academics and Athletes are both important to me although I have had struggles with both in the past. While taking an advanced placement math course, I ran into trouble with my teacher and my own personal drive. This lead to a poor grade is bringing down my GPA and me dropping the class. This poor performance was a wake-up call and result in me paying my other grades up and me taking on more ACT and SAT prep. I am hoping to find a college that will let me pursue both my athletic and academic dreams, and I am looking forward to the opportunities college will present.
