Simply put, my goal and aspirations are to be a productive member of society while having a career that I enjoy and being paid to do it.
I have been involved with sports since I was two years old when my mom put me in the pool to learn to swim. I took to it like a fish to water. Although I also played football and baseball for many years, swimming was my go to sport. Because of swimming, I also became a certified lifeguard and swim instructor to little kids.
I feel I'm different than other recruits because along with wanting to do my best and achieving my goals, I am also humbled by the fact that I even have the talent and ability to participate, knowing there are others that will never be able to do the things I do, due to circumstances that they have no control over. Academically, I think I'm different than other recruits because I'm not afraid to say that although I try, I really am not good at foreign language and my grade in foreign language reflects it. Even though my foreign language is poor, my teacher in that class was one of my favorites and wrote me a very touching letter of recommendation. My GPA is just one small part of who I am, but when you put it all together, I know I am a well rounded person, not only in sports, but in life.
I am a student athlete. Being able to swim at the college level, not only would be the most exciting sports accomplishment, it would also mean to me, by attending college, that I have come full circle in my academic life. I would be honored to have any college that I attend have me as a student athlete. I will be committed to do my very best both academically and in the sports arena. When I graduate, I will be able to say with pride, that I was part of something, something that can never be taken away from my heart and soul. I will say with pride that I was a part of university life and university life is now a part of me.
