Swimming has become a very influential part of my life and I am looking forward to expanding my swimming career throughout college. In college I plan to continue my competitive swimming, be engaged in school activities, and focus on my education. I started competitive swimming at age 9 in South Carolina, after moving to Connecticut I reached top 16 for Connecticut Swimming by age 12 for the 1,650- yard freestyle, and continued every swim-season (SCY/LCM) to be a top 16 Connecticut Swimming qualifier, up until my family moved to Northern Virginia. I continued my swimming in Northern Virginia for a season, before moving back to South Carolina in the Summer of 2015 where I re-joined my current swim-team. Due to my extensive swimming experience with various swim-teams, I believe I am very well coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working swimmers and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
Various highlights of my swimming career; Summer of 2016, I first swam my YMCA Nationals qualifying time in the 100- meter butterfly (LCM), as a rising Sophomore; in December of 2016, I swam my 2017 YMCA Nationals qualifying times for the 100- yard breaststroke and butterfly; in October of 2017, I won the SC High School State Championship in the 100-yard breaststroke, qualifying for the 2018 Futures Championship meet, and Runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly; in December of 2017 at the 25th Annual Capital Classic YOTA/Arena Championship I swam my first Speedo Winter Junior National qualifying time in the 100- yard breaststroke, and added the 200- yard breaststroke and 200- yard butterfly to my 2018 YMCA Nationals qualifying events, as well as the 2018 Senior Sectional qualifying times (Eastern Zones) for the 100/200- yard breaststroke, and 100/200- yard butterfly.
At school, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. When I am not practicing in the pool, I volunteer at non-competitive swimmeets that are being held by my swimteam or volunteer in the community for my school's Beta Club and National Honors Society. I am currently also holding an officer position in our National Honors Society.
I would like to attend a college where I can push myself academically and in the pool. I am open to all options and would like to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great example to all my peers and make my family proud.
I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my biography and view my profile.
Sincerely,
Maurilio Saddoud
