My swimming career started at the age of five when my brother and I joined our summer league team, the Bridlewood Bridlewaves. The first season was so much fun that I wanted to swim again the next summer and I've been coming back ever since. When I was eight and at the top of the age group, I broke my first record as part of a relay. I then realized that swimming wasn't just fun, but it was also a skill I had gained.
When I turned eleven, my parents gave me the option of swimming year round with Occoquan Swimming (OCCS) and I decided that I would try it out for at least a year. I enjoyed my first year on OCCS so much that I am still swimming year round four years later. Ever since I joined OCCS, my times have improved greatly and I have developed into a distance swimmer. I think being a distance swimmer can be useful to a team because not enough swimmers choose to swim long distance events or are even able to handle that long of an event. I am also a well-rounded swimmer - two of my top five events being the IMs.
I am looking forward to the challenges of self improvement throughout college and being on a team that can feel like a family.
