Swimming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Not only has the sport served as a means of staying fit and active in a competitive setting, it has provided me with lifelong friends and a team that is not much different than a family. In this sense I have found that often the most gratifying relationships are the ones in which competitiveness is the foundation. Like my current swim team, I hope to be able to feel this same bond with my future college team as I embark on the next chapter in my life.
Throughout my college career, I hope to share my humble spirit and dedicated manner with my chosen team. I am the type of person who will constantly work hard to achieve success in both academics and athletics, going to any extent in order to do so. I will strive to transfer this persistence into college and distinguish myself from my teammates with my compassionate and committed nature.
Having experienced many different coaches and their varying personalities and philosophies, the most successful in terms of their relationship with swimmers are those who can balance their hard-working spirit with a compassionate attitude. When a coach is able to immerse themselves into their team and build timeless friendships while simultaneously pushing the team to an ultimate goal, the team's success cannot be halted. I hope that my college coach will embody all of these attributes and be able to juggle both the personal and competitive sides of their athletes. In terms of academics, I am looking for highly selective and challenging programs that relate to my strong interests in S.T.E.M. fields of study.
