I started playing tournament tennis when I was 11 years old. At first, I was extremely lowly ranked but over the last 5 years I have become one of the top 3 junior tennis players in Alberta, Canada. This has taught me the value of perseverance and has given me a "no quit" attitude. This attitude has translated into my everyday life.
I used to watch my Mom play tennis when I was 3 years old. I remember wanting to always get on court and play for myself. When I was old enough to be instructed my tennis lessons began.
Tennis has taught me, over the years, how to overcome distractions and focus entirely on the achieving the best results possible.
Academically, I am achieving excellent high school results in my core interests such as mathematics, science and business. It is my intent to pursue a degree in Business.
Athletically, I have been lucky to have been a part of many championship teams. My baseball team won the Alberta championships when I was 12 years old. The following year my Babe Ruth team won the league championships. I played hockey at elite levels until the age of 13 when I decided to focus on my baseball and tennis skills. The last two years have been dedicated to being the the best I can be in tennis. This resulted in my recent success in winning the singles championship at the Western Canada Summer games.
I have the ability to understand strategy at an instinctive level. This has always helped me in pressure situations such as school examinations and tough competitive matches.
I feel that my potential as a student athlete is excellent and I look forward to the opportunity to grow my skill base and academic knowledge.
