2020 is only my third year of year-round training and tournament competition. I am a raw prospect with an incredibly high ceiling, and, more importantly, the work ethic and desire to reach it. Despite my late start, I refuse to let this become an excuse for my level of success as a tennis player. I practice about 17 hours a week, and train in the gym about 6 hours a week. I am highly dedicated to my goal of receiving a tennis scholarship, and I will work to provide the most value possible to my next team. I will lead by example through my relentless work ethic and my burning ambition to become the greatest tennis player, student, and human being I can.
My high school coach saw me practicing before freshman year. He described his observations as "not impressed." Turns out, I became the winningest player in boys Titan Tennis history. Many coaches will simply look at my UTR rating and keep scrolling. I laugh to myself because I know that all I need is one coach to take a chance on me. I am looking for a coach who can see through my rating, and recruit me for the intangible traits I have that will make me exponentially better in the years to come.
All the best,
Evan Birch
