Personal Statement

My name is Hunter Nathaniel Perkins and I have a deep love and passion for the game of Tennis. I was introduce sophomore by a close friend of mine and I have been hooked ever since! Tennis isn't just another fun activity for me, it is now a hobby, one that grows increasingly more as winter months pass as I wait for a dry enough surface to play on. I spend my free time watching Tennis clips on YouTube, both highlights and instructional videos. One thing that makes me a good candidate for your team and separates me from others is that I attempt to understand every aspect of the game. After listening and watching professionals technique I breakdown and critique there game and use that knowledge to make my game better. Then I also pursue to better the mind as most of my coaches have said, "Tennis is a mental game more than anything".  My game really stepped up pursuing out of school coaching for my private Tennis coach Vince Williams of Vince Tennis, where I got a lot of one on one time with a trained professional not only to teach proper technique, but introduced me to strategy as well. Besides being an excellent athletic candidate, I would also be an amazing student. I maintained a GPA above 4.0 for many years and am very committed to learning about and ultimately becoming an engineer. I have entered many engineering based programs such as local robotics camps, StarBase a STEM based program, and finally Future City where 8th grade year I won a Engineering Award for my whole team based on my use of mechanical engineering and motors. I've taken all honors, AP, PLTW, and dual-credit classes I could that were degree focused so I can really excel by the time college hits. I'm a driven, passionate, smart person who is really interested in whatever your college has to give and given the proper opportunity I would love to become both a student and a athlete for you!
