Personal Statement
I picked up my first tennis racquet at the age of 4, and ever since tennis has been more than just a sport to me—it has been a lifestyle. Now, at 17, I have spent over a decade dedicating myself to the game I love, training almost every single day. My journey in tennis has been marked by both personal and team achievements, including playing in the first team of Sporting Club under 12s, 14s, and 16s and currently for the men’s team earning top positions in Egypt's league (which includes all the top players in the country representing their teams). Some of the positions we earned include first in the under 12s, second in the under 14s, third in the under 16s, and third in the men's category this year (2024). My greatest qualities are my unwavering commitment to hard work and my ability to work with my team on and off the court. I have a passion for working hard and pushing my limits, and this dedication has made me not only a strong individual player but also a leader within my team. I take pride in motivating my teammates, encouraging them to fight for every point, and ensuring they are well-prepared both mentally and physically before every match. Whether it's getting to bed early or eating right, I believe that every small detail contributes to the overall success of the team. Academically, I hold myself to the same high standards. With a 4.0 GPA and 7 AP courses (out of 9 available at my school), I have excelled in my studies, particularly in mathematics, which I have always enjoyed. I have been balancing academics and athletics for years, and it has taught me true discipline and time management, skills that I am confident will serve me well in a collegiate environment.
Growing up in Alexandria, Egypt, where there is only one ITF tournament a year, has posed its challenges. The limited opportunity to compete internationally has made me even more determined to make the most of every match and every practice session. I travel to Cairo frequently for tournaments, which isn’t always possible but has only strengthened my resolve and adaptability. My goal and dream have always been to continue my tennis journey at the collegiate level, where I can further develop my skills, contribute to a team, and pursue academic excellence. I am eager to bring my passion, work ethic, and leadership to a program that values both athletic and academic achievement. I am ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that collegiate tennis will offer, and I am confident that I can make a positive impact both on and off the court.
