Personal Statement
My name is Mason Caldwell, and I am from the island of Guam. I am a rising junior and wish to play collegiate tennis at a NCAA Division 3 school. I represent my island at many international competitions in the Pacific. I have also represented my region of Micronesia in international tournaments. I currently am a player for Pacific Oceania that has been on many Grand Slam Development Fund tours around the Pacific. I have been awarded with a summer scholarship by ITF Pacific to travel and train with team Pacific Oceania. I live in Fiji during the summer to train at the Regional Tennis Center and play various ITF events. I place great pride in my islander spirit. I have been taught to respect my coaches and work my hardest. I have an athletic base and connect well with coaches.
My rankings and UTR may not be the best representation of my skill level. Most tournaments that I play aren't USTA or ITF. In my time playing USTA tournaments, my ranking was around other 2-3 stars. My UTR may not be the best representation because there are not very many tournaments in Guam that are UTR registered. I have won ITF singles and doubles matches but have not received points since they were in early rounds.
