Personal Statement
Important notice: I have finished high school in 2019 but due to my mandatory Army Service in the Swiss Army I will not be able to attend a college until the fall of 2021. Please feel free to get in touch for any further questions.
I have deep commitment and loyalty to my college, to my team and to my coach. I like to learn, to work hard and I have a desire to succeed including a very strong faith and mental toughness. On the court, I can beat anyone, especially the better ranked players. I'm an competitor!
I have been playing tennis since I was seven years old. I have great passion for the game of tennis and huge motivation to work hard in all aspects of college, of studying and of playing tennis. I'm a good team mate. Since I got to Swisstennis junior squad of central Switzerland, 2013, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level. I know that playing college tennis is tough, but it's also a once in a lifetime opportunity that could affect my whole life. Playing tennis on a team in college would give me structure to get my preferred master degree.
Practices, matches and travel need to be scheduled with classes and studying, requiring me to budget my time. That will also be a key when I begin my working life. College tennis is also an opportunity to give back something to community service. Tennis is rated in the top 10 sports for physical conditioning, so there is no better way to learn and work out, than hitting a tennis ball for many hours a week, especially if it’s with people I like.
Right now my plan is to go to Australia, Sydney in January of 2020 to improve my English skills. I will be visiting a school and preparing myself for the Cambridge Proficiency Exam for a few months. As a conscript, I will be serving as an Aviation Soldier in the Swiss Military from June of 2020 to April 2021. Despite the conscription I intend to practice and get as much time on the tennis court as possible, so I can improve my tennis and get a college scholarship in 2021.
I am an easy coachable athlete and a hard working player.
It's simple. I do not take all the way from Switzerland to the USA, the land of the brave and the home of the free, to be studying or playing on average!
