Personal Statement
I am a very driven individual and pride myself on being someone who is prepared to practise, listen and work hard. I have been playing tennis since the age of 4 and was an all round good sportsmen until the age of 12, when I decided to concentrate on my key passion, that is tennis.
I gained a tennis scholarship at 13 to one of the most prestigious sports schools in the UK , Harrow School and have been representing the school as their No 1 player for the past 3 years. I have now been included in the National UK Tennis Academy in Halton UK where I train weekly and am part of the County performance squad.
In addition I have for the past 3 years spent July and August in Barcelona, Spain at Tennis Academies and playing Spanish clay court tournaments. I am therefore registered with the Federation of Tennis Catalonia and have a ranking. In the UK I play as many LTA tournaments as my school (and the weather) permits. Most recently I won the Men's singles tournament at Pinner Lawn Tennis Club in Middlesex where I play in the 1st Division team. I continue to consistently improve and am performing better and better in all my other national and regional tournaments.
Alongside my tennis, I am a studious individual and in my recent national school exams was awarded Grade A's in all 9 of my chosen subjects, including Math, English, and all sciences. I also engage in many other extracurricular activities including art, drama, sport, military, and social responsibility. Once a week I coach younger children in tennis on a voluntary basis and I am often called upon to lead teams and/or activities at school.
Recently I was awarded the very prestigious "First Sea Lord Cadet” appointment within the British Royal Marines, awarded to less than 12 young people in the UK each year from a short list of 2000 individuals nominated from all regions of the country. I was chosen by the Royal Marines for my leadership, determination, resilience and perseverance in adversity, and I hope it demonstrates my character and growth mindset.
I am so passionate about tennis and the opportunity to play in the US collegiate system is my dream. I would also love to spend my varsity years in the USA experiencing another culture (I am very familiar with the USA as my eldest brother attends UCLA and my father has worked in the US for the past 25 years) whilst developing my tennis.
