Personal Statement
I'm Benedict Nteza I am 17 years old male from Kyegegwa Uganda East Africa. I am in year 3 of Secondary School level, I go to a minor seminary here in Uganda. I live in a family of seven people, i have 2 young sisters and 2 older brothers. I want to become a tennis player and coach in the future and a doctor. My favorite tennis player is Ms. Serena Williams and Mr. Roger Federer I love the way they play tennis and the journeys and difficulties they have went through in order to become good players and what they are now. I love sciences especially biology.
I'm so happy to join NCSA . I started playing tennis when I was 13 years old, I watched tennis for the first time on TV at a local shop in my village when i had gone to buy cooking oil. I was very surprised and attracted by the way the players were hitting a tennis ball back and fore with joy, people laughing and happy. I quickly went back home and sold my sheep which i was keeping and went to the city and bought two old rackets and two old balls, I begun hitting the tennis ball on the wall of our house, i was very happy when i was hitting the tennis ball. The following day i did the same, a group of village kids came and looked at me admiring also to bounce the tennis ball. The number kept on increasing everyday very interested to learn the new found sport in our village. From that day i became a tennis coach, a tennis player who had no any tennis idea about the sport. Making tennis be accessible for kids in my village for everyone i ended up creating a small ordinary court in our village calling it Kids Closer To Sports. Tennis is not very popular here in western Uganda where we have no tennis courts for practicing the game.
For the past 5 years tennis has made a big impact on my life, through training children and fellow youth also I have got skills of tennis because when I'm teaching kids I also learn something, I have also learnt how to work with people in the community and i have also made friends.
i hope to work hard and improve on my tennis and academics and also help others. I will work hard inorder make my dream of becoming a tennis player and coach become true.
