Personal Statement
I picked up tennis as a hobby when I was 11 years old, just looking for something to do once I left school, without realizing that I found the sport that would become one of the most significant passions of my life. The individual aspect of tennis made me fall in love with it, I knew that the outcome of every match was entirely in my hands- win or lose, the responsibility was all mine, and this sparked a flame within me to work harder each day and dedicate myself to improving not just as an athlete, but also as a person off and on the court.
Through my journey in tennis, I developed a sense of dedication, responsibility, and perseverance. These qualities propelled me forward on the court while competing, and I won four singles and eight doubles provincial titles in Ecuador. The discipline I developed on the court translated seamlessly into my academic life, where I graduated with a 3.5 GPA and was recognized by teachers as one of the top students.
For me, the tennis court not only builds exceptional athletes but also great human beings and leaders. I am eager to bring this mindset to a college team, where I can contribute as a leader who values attitude, hard work, and the lessons learned from years of dedication to the sport.
I am excited about the prospect of joining a college team, knowing that it will be an opportunity for tremendous growth, both as an athlete, seeking the best results for the university, and as a person, committed to developing a strong set of values and professionalism.
