Personal Statement
I have been playing Tennis for the last 8 years; since I was eight. About five years ago, my Parents and I sat down to decide what were my plans for the future and how I will achieve them. My dream is to play professional Tennis and it has been for a long time. The question is how do I get there? I knew from the start that I belong to a middle-income, Pakistani family who do not have the means or the savings to pay for International training camps, or pay for college tuition fee in the US. I knew I had to do this on my own; through my hard work both on and off court. Since then, there has been no turning back. I have left no stone unturned to transform this dream into a reality.
I truly believe that I will make a successful candidate for the team and here's why. I believe in discipline and work ethics. Everything in life revolves around a plan, a schedule and a timer. Fitness, training, academics; all have a place and a priority in my life. I don't procrastinate, I don't put things off to the next day, I don't ask for easy solutions. On the contrary, I love challenges and I love to grind. I believe in earning my wins, only then do they feel real to me.
I think the one thing that separates me from the rest is consistency and perseverance. I simply don't give up; never have. These two qualities have led me to achieve excellence in academics and athletics. I have worked very hard to strike a balance between academics and athletics. It hasn't been easy. I have been an above average student all my life and I scored 2 A* 3As 3B in my GCEs (O Level). It was a difficult time because I had to study hard yet, ensure that my National Ranking did not get compromised.
I believe that when you want something really good; you make sacrifices. I have made plenty; I gave up on family time, friends, holidays and recreational time just so that I would not jeopardize my future; compromise on my routine or slack in any way possible. I do not regret making those sacrifices; instead they make me stronger and more resilient than ever.
I want to achieve all this and more; I want to be the best version of me. And this is where I draw my motivation from. These thoughts keep me focused and determined and everyday brings me closer to my goal.
