As a freshman, I play for the varsity high school team at Gunston. On the weekends, I practice with Crusher Tennis Academy, look for opportunities to play in USTA matches and am part of the Anne Arundel County Junior Team Tennis club. Tennis is part of my identity and I am committed to playing in college. I have been playing tennis on college courts since I was five years old. I joined a clinic after school at George Washington University with a friend. He moved overseas but I stayed committed to tennis. I joined a weekend clinic at Georgetown University, led by Starr Foster and began spending most of my summer at a camp held at Georgetown Visitation, next door. Danny Kreyman, who played Division 1 tennis at Wake Forest joined the coaching team at Georgetown’s field house and I got my chance to work with him weekly for four years. Ever since I was ten, I have attended camp at the United States Naval Academy where I have been taught by head men’s tennis coach and Australian Open round of sixteen player, Chris Garner. I was 11 when the pandemic hit and used my time to ramp up my tennis game while I was in school virtually for an entire year. I have been coached and inspired by talented players and have been able to watch the world’s top players at the US Open in New York City, the Citi Open and more recently at Indian Wells. Our family lives for tennis. It teaches you character, builds camaraderie and keeps you strong. It is fun and a life long sport. All you need is a racket and a few tennis balls and the rest is up to you.
