My collegiate goals and aspirations are to play college tennis for a university that provides a challenging academic program and will prepare me for a future in the medical field.
Unlike many players, I did not grow up in a tennis family, though my family is very sports-oriented. I started playing tennis in a city summer recreation program when I was seven years old and instantly fell in love with the game. Since that time, being on a tennis court is where I am happiest. I love the physical and mental challenges of the game, along with the community it creates. What may set me apart from other recruits is that my passion for the game is as strong today as it was when I was seven years old - and possibly even stronger. Although some players grew up with parents who were pros or were fortunate to have the means to travel to expensive camps, academies, or national tourneys, I've always felt that my genuine love of and passion for the game gives me an even greater advantage. When I'm on the court, I'm there because I want to be, not because someone told me I have to be.
I also played travel baseball and basketball until I was 12 years old when I focused solely on tennis. My background in team sports is why I've especially enjoyed playing USTA events like the Midwest Team Cup and the National Zone Team Championships. Playing high school tennis has also been a highlight of my tennis career. As captain of my team, I enjoy helping my teammates improve, working toward a common goal, celebrating big wins, and supporting each other after tough losses. For me, being part of a team is one of the most exciting parts of playing college tennis, and I look forward to contributing positively to team culture and to the team's success on the court.
I bring the same passion and intensity to my studies that I bring to the tennis court. My parents are both educators, so I grew up in a house full of books and always understood the importance of education. My goal-driven and disciplined mindset on the court is also an asset in the classroom. I have a 4.2 GPA, read for pleasure, love math and science, and plan to pursue medicine in hopes of one day becoming an oncologist.
I look forward to getting to know you and more about your program as I search for an opportunity where I can be a significant contributor to the tennis program while completing a rigorous academic program that prepares me for medical school.
