Hi, my name is Rintaro Goda from Troy, Michigan. Although tennis is an individual sport, I throughly enjoy plying competitive tennis as a team. As a captain this year for my high school team, I make sure I'm showing the right attitude on court during matches and at practice I really push my teammates to further develop their skills. As of college tennis, my goal is to motivate my teammates and to give positive energy throughout the tennis season.
As a competitive tennis player, I train every day to become the best tennis player I can possibly be. I started playing tennis at the age of 11. After 3 years of playing recreational tennis, I started playing competitively. One part that I believe distinguishes myself from other competitors is that I focus on the process. For example, I don't focus on whether I'm going to win or loose this match.I focus more on my positive internal thoughts and emotions on court. As have been playing competitive tennis for roughly 3 years now, I started to enjoy the ups and downs you face on court. No matter how negative my thoughts are during a match, I try shifting those thoughts into positive ones.
