Eli Samaan '11 Recruiting Profile

I will be a 2011 graduate at WMMHS in Mendham, NJ. I have seven years of USTA tennis experience and three years on the varsity team at my high school. During high school, I have earned First Team All-Conference every year. My records are as follows: freshman year, 19-2, sophomore year, 22-3, and junior year, 18-6. I was awarded MVP sophomore year and Rookie of the Year as a freshman. I am Captain of the team and was ranked #1 in B18 NJ Region on 9/2009. I currently have a 3.59 GPA but take the most challenging course load offered at my high school, so my weighted GPA is 4.67. While I play tennis for a pure love of the game, I thrive on competition. I know that while tennis can be fun it is also a serious business; it is important to work hard in order to keep improving and to stay physically and mentally strong. My career in tennis has helped me develop more than my game; it has taught me very crucial life skills such as sportsmanship, tenacity, time management, and teamwork. I am learning to achieve balance among my academic pursuits, my passion for tennis, and my personal life. I am working very hard to improve my game in preparation for college tennis. I train year round, taking private lessons and regular clinics with a coach. I am on a strict daily training schedule consisting of both an on court and off court routine. I am interested in a college or university with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of business or economics. Coach, if you want a tennis player who is 100% committed to his team, who has the determination, the persistence, and the drive to help his team, I am your man. I am not seeking scholarship but rather the opportunity to simply be one of your players. I will give my all for my team and my coach. As Coach Joyner stated on his evaluation after the Tennis College Exposure camp I attended on July, 2009 at Brown University: "Awesome team guy. Fired up, enthusiastic, supportive.
