Personal Statement

I believe that my physicality and high ceiling in regards to my skill potential are what will help me excel.  A positive mindset and a strong attitude will also help me reach my goals.  I feel I have made huge strides in my progression due to my passion and work ethic for the game.  I played mostly recreational tennis since 9 years old.  In the beginning, I played out of my hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario at our local tennis club.  My family made a huge commitment when we moved to the Toronto area when I was 15 years old.  This helped me to play out of a high-performance tennis academy, along with coaching, proper fitness, and training, to enhance all aspects of my game.  My parents sacrificed a lot to help support my passion for playing tennis here in Canada, and for that I am grateful.

I feel very optimistic, I am a huge believer in whatever I set my mind to with hard work and practice, I can achieve anything.  I am working hard to build on my weaknesses and refine some of my big weapons.  I am confident that I have the ability to perform and win matches that are well beyond my current UTR ranking.

My ultimate goal and dream after my College career are to play and compete one day on the ATP tour. I truly am looking forward to my journey, and up for the challenge of all the hard work it will take both as an athlete and a College student.

  • 3 years
  • Have been working hard both on and off court for a fitness routine to improve in all areas to perform better during matches. Nutrition is also key along with proper exercise for tennis specific exercises. Coach Craig Webster, a International Coach out of South Africa also has made a huge impact on me this year. We have been working together on-line for over 4 months now because of the Covid19 situation. Coach Webster's knowledge and understanding in many areas has impacted my game, especially the "mental" mindset required for an athlete. Coach Webster who has over 50 years of coaching, along with playing as a pro, his knowledge and understanding of the athlete from both a coaching perspective and standpoint, and a player standpoint, has given me so much knowledge in these areas. All of this is important for any athlete's progress in this sport. Pavel Krainik who recently came of the ATP tour, we have worked together now since September 2020 as a player coach with me. Hitting and training with Pavel is for sure hitting with a pro, so having both these coaches working with me is a dream team for me personally. To have the ability to train with a recent ATP touring player in Pavel on court and him being a hitting coach for me to understand playing patterns and game strategies, along with Coach Webster as my online mental coach , I feel is a recipe for my future success in all areas. Now it is my turn to work hard on all aspects of winning tournaments and my ultimate goal of becoming a TOP 50 ATP player and competing at the highest level of my abilities. For all of this I am grateful as an athlete, and training with both of these coaches.
