My passion for competition in athletics has always been part of my life. From a very early age I was a hockey player and playing a provincial level and championships teams, always enjoying the part I can play to help my team win. In summers, baseball was my passion, learning how my individual achievements could help my team achieve success .There I was selected for a provincial core team. My latest and most dominating passion is tennis. I first picked up a racquet at 13 and it has taken over my life, leaving other sports aside. I started tournaments at 15 and really started taking tennis seriously at 16. I finished Juniors at around 100 nationally. Since then I have moved on to men's tennis for the past year , where my men's national ranking is 100. My persistent success and improvement in a short amount of time has inspired me to achieve more , giving me the feeling that I have more that I can do , and keep getting better with continual improvement. In college I would like to continue to pursue my athletic passion for tennis and also achieve a very good education . My broad athletic experience, higher levels of achievement in sports and wanting to continue to rise and succeed in tennis will drive me to improve and help my team.
All my high school graduation requirements were completed the academic year with graduation June 2020. In the spring of 2020 , I was accepted and getting ready to play for newly formed team D 1 Dixie State. After being there for 5 weeks in August/September , with the Covid situation for the state/country complicating NCAA start up for the school , they cancelled their men's tennis program. This was very disappointing. I am continuing online courses with Dixie for this entire academic year currently as a full time status student , after moving back to Canada . At present I am thrilled to be involved in some high level training/coaching with other D1 players and plan to continue this with some tournament play through the fall. As Dixie State will not be starting up their Men's tennis program in the foreseeable future , I am looking to transfer for fall [Aug 2021] to a school where I can continue with my tennis aspirations and get a good education.
My plan is to continue to train with these coaches and players in Toronto , learn more and grow my game to the next level. I will be also playing Men's Open tournaments when they are available , and playing with local University players [University of Waterloo/and WLU ] at my local clubs in Waterloo when time permits. Also if possible I intend to do some international tournaments in the USA and ITF tournaments abroad. This of course has been complicated with the Covid pandemic , but I intend to continue with this path as things get better. The players I presently train with are D1 and 11.5 to 12.4 utr .... I have beaten them in training matches a number of times , for which I credit to my quick improvement since returning from Dixie St to training with my new coach Pavel Krainik a top 400 ATP player. My goal is to be playing NCAA fall 2021.
