My name is Kristian Peev, and I was born in Bulgaria. When I was 3 years old I moved to the USA with my family, and at age I started to play tennis. Currently live in Tigard OR, with my parents, and I am a Senior at Valley Catholic High School.
I envision my college years to be a period of personal growth. I wish to explore an Economics Major that will position me well for Business School. On the court, I plan to be a dynamic player and a positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally, through my college tennis career, I will strive to be an asset in singles and doubles. Most importantly, I am a hard worker on the court and in the classroom, and try my best in everything that I do. I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the court, knowing that how I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches, and the school I attend.
What sets me apart from other tennis players my age is that I love moving in to win points. I know that at least 50% of my points are won at the net both on my service and returning games. I especially like to serve and volley on both the deuce and ad side. Some people think this is a dying style of play, but I know it can be extremely effective. I am not afraid of coming forward, and my quick reflexes help me win points by angling off shots or by utilizing touch shots. However, I can grind out points if need be.
All year round I am playing USTA tournaments, and my biggest achievement is winning the back draw at the 120th Oregon Open Championships in July, 2018. This immediately placed me at 22nd for Men’s Open Singles in the Pacific Northwest. I am currently 11th in Boys 18 Advanced in PNW.
Some of my High School achievements include making it to the State Tournament:
Quarterfinals in doubles my Freshman year, quarterfinals in singles my Sophomore year, and the singles Final my Junior year.
I am a very strong student with a 3.8 GPA, and am a student ambassador. I am captain of the tennis team since my Sophomore year and was MVP both my Sophomore and Junior years. For my Junior year, I was awarded one of the five VC Valliants Scholarships for excellence. As part of a Catholic school, I strive to live Valiantly, and to do my best every single day in all my activities.
My other interests include swimming, Ping Pong, reading, and I have a passion for Ancient History. My greatest idol is Roger Federer in tennis and in life, whose example I try follow by style, grace, and character.
