I started playing tennis when I was seven years old. From the moment I stepped on the court, I could tell I loved this sport more than the many other ones I’ve played. Tennis demands lots of hard work and mental determination, and I’ve developed these skills over the years. I would like to continue to develop as a player and person at the collegiate level.
Over the course of my life, I’ve played many other sports, but for the past 7 years I have settled on two, tennis and ice hockey. I have played on a club hockey team along with my school teams. While also playing tournament level tennis and playing high school tennis. Being a two sport athlete has significantly improved my tennis game. Playing a sport like hockey has strengthened my endurance, speed, quickness, and overall strength. Playing such a fast pace and physical sport has helped me adjust to playing tennis at higher levels. Sometimes it is tough to balance the two sports but I believe being part of a team has taught me many valuable life lessons and also helped me improve my time management. Having good time management while being a student athlete gives me plenty of time to study and maintain good grades.
In my time playing tennis, I have had many accomplishments. I have had success in many USTA tournaments and won several of them. My biggest accomplishment was coming from behind in multiple matches to win a U16 USTA tournament this past summer. I faced many challenges in these matches and came from behind in three of them, beating the one seed on my way to victory. In my Freshman year of High School tennis, I played second singles and finished with an 11-2 record. This was a very successful season, and I was Second Team All Leauge and was runner up in the Leauge doubles tournament and participated in district doubles. In my Sophmore year I will be splitting time at first singles with my teammate and I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish.
In the classroom I study very hard and have a 3.6 GPA. I have a very tight schedule And I make studying a priority. I take multiple honors courses at my highschool and am particularly interested in my history class. I want to to attend a college where I can be challenged both in the classroom and on the court. I am open to all options and want to pick the school that best fits my athletic and academic strengths and needs.
