I, Brandon Mathey, was born and raised in McKinney, Texas to a family that has always been enamored with athletics. From an early age I excelled in Basketball, Soccer, Football and Tennis.
I started playing Tennis when he was 4 years old, and at that time I wanted to branch out and play other sports. I decided to give team sports a try and excelled in Basketball, Soccer, and even Football. My love for Tennis grew more when I started idolizing Rafael Nadal defeating his opponents at such a young age. When I was about 8 years old, my coach at the time, Chris Foltz, suggested that I should focus on tennis more and recommended I started playing tournaments. After dominating the younger kids division, we both mutually agreed that I should play in the 12 year old division at age 8.
I attended Evans Middle School where he took on the number one seed to lead his team. One of my best accomplishments is being undefeated my eighth grade year and winning district. I loved supporting my school, but continued to play in USTA tournaments throughout Texas, and super champed in the U14, which was one of my main goals. I has remained in Super Champ for almost 4 years, and still continue to play at a high level.
I entered McKinney High School with a world of expectations and proved early on that I could live up to my expectations and then some. I lettered all 4 years in High School. As a freshman I outplayed my older teammates and took on the second seed on the men’s varsity squad, which was unheard of for a freshman. My junior year I moved up to the first seed, and kept this spot throughout my senior year. Besides being an excellent player I'm is also a major supporter of my teammates. When I found out that we weren't going to have summer practices through the school I put it upon my self to put together days to get the team out to hit, so everyone would be ready for the season.
I have always looked to improve my game by doing anything from training, tournaments and camps. My passion for athletics is second to none, and this is shown in my accomplishments and accolades. My hard work and dedication, along with my talent, gave me the tools I needed to succeed on the court, as well as in life. It is my dream to continue my passion for athletics at collegiate level, and will do everything I can to truly make a difference in the school I choose to go to.
