I have been playing sports since I was four. I have participated in basketball, baseball, and beginning in sixth grade, tennis. While I enjoyed basketball and played throughout middle school and my freshman year, tennis has been my passion. I have focused on my tennis game since seventh grade and decided this year to stop playing basketball so that I would not miss out on opportunities to play tennis and improve my skills in the off season. I condition and play six days a week and spend a lot of time working with my private coach. I was seeded as the one seed this year as a sophomore both in singles and doubles. I have attended several tennis camps over the years including Wake Forest Tennis Camp, WVU Tennis Camp and Mercer Tennis Clinics in the past year. I play USTA tournaments in our state and my plan this summer was to begin to play USTA throughout our tri-state region. Last summer I was named Wake Forest Camper of the Week.
I also work hard to maintain a strong grade point average and stay active in extra-curricular activities at my school. I am a member of the Beta Club, Pep Club, SCORES, and Student Council. I have been a class officer both years of high school. I am very involved in our community and I volunteer every week at a local food pantry giving out food baskets to families in need.
My family is a very sports’ driven family. Both of my parents have been coaches. My father has coached high school basketball and my mother has been a high school cheer coach for many years. My grandfather played college basketball at WVU and then coached the sport for 22 years. Our family is competitive, goal oriented and sports minded. I have been raised to work hard, respect your coaches and be a leader on and off the court.
