Hello: my name is Julian Duff. I run events in both Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field, and got out of my comfort zone and joined the Cross Country Track Team mid-season of my senior year after the coach approached me and asked if I would be interested. I am primarily a Sprinter with my main events being the 60M, 100M and 200M, but am open to doing other distance such as having run the 300M and 400M in previous meets. I have been on the relay teams for the 4x100M, 4x200M (3rd place at state for Indoor Track 2022), and 4x400M.
For the last few years, I've had a really strong desire to continue my track and field journey on the collegiate level. My versatility is displayed in my ability to participate and be competitive in a variety of events ranging from the 60M all the way to a 5k even though my primary training focuses on short distance sprints. My passion for running started at a young age especially when I played soccer where my speed was utilized all the time. I was always encouraged by my peers, coaches, teachers, and parents to use my talent for running and speed and to pursue it athletically. Therefore, I moved myself into Track & Field when it was offered in Middle School and never looked back.
The summer before Senior year started (June - August 2022), I took my training to the next level by working with a personal trainer 4 days a week. We focused on speed training, plyometrics and strength building during the sessions and I did endurance training on my off-days. I understand that hard work will outdo raw talent any day and knew I needed to take my training to the next level this past summer. I am looking forward to this final season of my High School career so I can show my improvements from making this big change in the off season, and look forward to continuing on as a college athlete.
Academically, I work incredibly hard to maintain a B and higher in all classes. I put in extra hours studying for classes that are extra challenging for me. If something proves to be too much of a challenge, I am not too proud to ask for assistance through talking with my teachers or using a tutor. I know college is about getting an education but being able to pursue my passion of running is an added bonus.
