I've learned to embrace my failures. Each time I don't grasp first place or even place top three, I contemplate my race. I love to dedicate my time to improve as a sprinter and a better athlete mentally. I focus on fixing my mistakes and learning new techniques/strategies to attack my future races. I want to consistently improve as a sprinter and as a competitor.
I most certainly want to compete as a sprinter at the highest level possible I can. No matter what division or meet I will run in, at the end of the day I'm racing against the clock. When I am a few seconds better than in the last race I proud of my improvement. But correlating with running the better time grasping first place is an added perk I desire too,
Being team captain for three years on my high school track team has allowed me to grow as a better man. Bonding and making my fellow teammates are by far the most important thing in track. Teammates will always be the first to comfort you, motivate, and push you to become a better sprinter than you were before. However, it is very important for me to do the same for them in return, and maybe sometimes even more.
When dealing with minor injuries or not performing my best at practice as a sprinter, I came to realize that my next meet isn't always guaranteed. Mentally I have to overcome the injury or not obtaining a spot to race at a significant meet and rather continue to become a better sprinter to give my coach no doubt but to have me race.
My goal after high school is to receive the most valuable education I can obtain in my preferred majors of study. Having an education is very important to secure that I will have a successful future no matter what obstacles I may potentially face.
