__________________________

My name is Marcellus Jones and I am currently a Senior at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove, CA for the 2016-2017 school year. I am a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field team. I have been on the Varsity team since my freshman year. During Cross Country season I run the 5k and during the Track and Field season I run the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 4x400m relay, and the 400m leg on the Distance Medley Relay.

I have been running for 8 years and have constantly been improving each year I run. I train year-round for track. In addition to high school, I have been a member of the Pacific United Track Club for 8 years. My track club competes under the USATF Pacific Association. In 2014 and 2015, I qualified for the Junior Olympics in the 800m and 1500m.

In school, my strongest subjects are History and English and I currently have a 3.11 G.P.A.

In addition to running for my high school, I am a member of the Culinary Academy. I believe in addition to training hard for your sport, it is equally important to eat right. I have learned the importance of eating high protein foods such as Chicken and Fish and the importance of eating fruits and vegetable and how that plays an important role in my success a runner.

I am also involved with community service. I am a Jr Counselor for the Police Departments Kops n Kids program, assist with the local elementary track events as well as assisting youth with basic cooking and cooking demonstrations.

I think I am a good candidate for college teams because I never give up. I am determined, a hard worker and will do whatever it takes to succeed. I want the best not only for myself, but for my teammates. I know that participating in collegiate sports is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I would be a great asset to a college team.
