My name is Justin Daniel Hernandez, I am 17 years old and my goal is to run Track in college as a division I, II or III athlete and specialize in the 400 meter. Since I was four years old, I have played soccer, baseball, football, volleyball and track. I have been involved in sports my whole life and would love to continue in college. My main goals are to run track at a college level and study sports physical therapy or nursing. I chose this field because last year I injured my hamstring while doing hurdles. Through hard work and working with my physical therapist I have been able to heal. I was injured my sophomore and junior year and now that I am healed I want to see if I can push myself to break my PR time. I want to help others understand and heal their bodies when injured. I think I can relate to injured athletes with my experience and the frustrations of not being able to give it my all because of the hamstring injury.
What makes me a good candidate for a team is that I work hard when it comes to my passion. I am a team player and always motivate my team to do better. I work hard and push through many obstacles thrown at me and I want to be the best I can possibly be. In order for me to get there I need to go to the next level and I am ready. I work hard in academics and I understand that nothing comes easy and that one has to work hard for what they want in life.
I also help out my community by coaching my little sister's girls softball team. I participate in a program called shooting stars where I became a "buddy" to kids with disabilities. I basically helped and played basketball with them. In addition, I am currently a director for a program called Morgan's Baseball League in Escondido California. This program also helps kids with disabilities learn to play baseball and socialize. I love sports and that is how I plan to give back when I am older is to somehow always be involved whether it is through sports physical therapy or volunteering as a coach for the next generations to come.
