Matthew Dela Cruz '25 Recruiting Profile

I started running since the age of 13, and ever since then I slowly grew to love the sport of running, because it's made me more mentally and physically stronger, a more disciplined man overall. Through running I've built unbreakable bonds with my teammates and through training together I have met and made many great friends in life just by participating in this sport, and I wish to do the same at the college level.

I aspire to keep learning and getting better in the sport I love, with the hopes of being able to use this love for the sport as motivation to push to the point where I am able to compete at the college level. Pursuing my studies while still being able to compete in the sport of running is a lifetime goal of mine.

As a Filipino-American athlete, I want to reach an elite level of running in college and beyond in order to inspire the future generations of not just American, but more specifically Asian athletes, to show them that it's totally possible to become great in the sport of running, no matter your race or genetics.
