I have a passion for running Track and Field and have been a city finalist in Track since my Freshman Year. As it turns out, running is also one of my biggest hurdles as I have suffered from 5 severe ankle sprains over the last two years. With patient guidance from my coach, this is one obstacle that I have successfully overcome each time it has crossed my path, and most recently was designated the Most Valuable Player on the team for sophomore year on Cross Country. Going into my Junior Track Season I was extremely excited to be able to run a season for the first time with no injuries. My 800m debut for the season was also my first Varsity race. I ran 2:08, setting a personal best by nearly six seconds giving me immense hope for the rest of the season. One week later March 14 our school was closed due to COVID-19 and soon after LAUSD shut down the season for all Spring Sports. My coach and I were extremely confident I would have a ran in the low 2's this season and I am deeply saddened I was not able to demonstrate by peak potential. I am someone who has constantly broken through adversity and this situation is no different. I will continue to run and get stronger so that I can show coaches and colleges my senior year why I deserve a chance. I am a strong student and a strong athlete and I hope that I will be able to showcase my abilities in the 2021 season.
