My name is Andrew Shults and I am a student at South Pasadena Senior High School in South Pasadena, CA. I will graduate in the spring of 2015. I began running track as a freshman while at the same time playing varsity baseball. I have qualified for national meets along with the CIF division level meets and I have achieved all league honors in baseball twice.
I recently achieved the BSA rank of Eagle Scout. During this process I had to develop leadership skills and I learned perseverance, adaptability, focus and how to deal with setbacks. These are lessons and experiences which will help me on and off the track. I have also maintained a high GPA, high SAT scores and achieved AP Scholar status. The skills and work ethic needed to complete this rank, and to meet the demands of competing in 2 sports simultaneously? while maintaining a high GPA and academic honors has helped me to acquire the necessary skills to prepare for the academic and athletic demands required in collegiate athletics.
Both of my parents competed at the collegiate level and have inspired me to achieve both athletically and academically. I want to attend a college or university where I can contribute not only on the field but also in the classroom and community. I am a leader in my Boy Scout troop, and I have also volunteered for various local community service organizations. I firmly believe that I can contribute to the community, school and team that I will be fortunate enough to join.
