Running is my passion, a passion that started from the first time I ran an 800m in the sixth grade, to being a team member on two competitive running clubs including the Landsharks and Kokopelli Racing Team . My love for running grew even more after making it to USATF Nationals twice! Ever since then I’ve continued pushing myself to get faster and stronger. In the seventh and eighth grade I really started focusing on track and cross country. By the end of Junior High my fastest 1600m was 5:29 and my 800m was 2:39. The summer before my Freshman year in highschool I participated in the summer training camp that was put on by the school. Up to this point, my goal through Junior high was to make Varsity in both track and cross country. I am happy to say that I met both of those goals as a Freshman. My 5k Cross Country PR is 16:34. In Track, my PR in the 1600m is 4:43, and finally in the 800m 2:10. I love putting in the effort, hardwork and dedication to being the best I can be. I lettered in both track and cross country and am very proud of that accomplishment. I met and exceeded my goals. I ran year round for the first time and I’m continually see improvement. This year, as a Junior I ran a 16:05 min 5k for cross country, and want to run a 4:35 in the 1600m, a 2:07 800m, and a sub 10 3200m. I got awarded the MVP last year and I would love to get it again this year. By the end of High school in 2020 I can envision myself running a 5k in 15:15, a 1600m in 4:20, a 800m in 1:59 and a 3200m in 9:30. By the end of college I want my 5k time to get down to 14:45and my 1600m to be a 4:10, my 800m to be a 1:50 and my 3200m to be a 9:10. These goals push me to the limit to be outstanding for both for myself and my team/s. I made it to state for my first year as a junior and got 26th overall and can’t wait to go back next year and show them what I’m about.
Academic excellence is also a huge importance in my life on and off the college track. I always want to be at the top of my class with 4.0 or higher. I push myself to being a leader in the classroom and throughout the school to my peers. This has proven to be true as I was awarded the Freshman and Sophomore Male Leadership award after being nominated by multiple teachers, I am active in in the competitive speech and the debate team as well as a member of Student Government. I made it to State for Speech and Debate for this year 2018! I recently applied and was accepted into Youth Leaders of Douglas county where I learn how to be a leader and be someone people look up to. I’m also involved in Teen Court for my passion of wanting to become a lawyer. My XC coach elected me last year to be the representative on our Elite athlete team where we learn not only how to be a leader in the classroom but to be a leader on the track as well. I finished the year with a letter in academics, speech and debate, XC, and Track. I also got accepted into National Honor society! My new goal for my time left in High School is to graduate as Student Body President and letter in Community Service. As of right now I am the Junior Class President and will be students body President next year!
My favorite time of the whole year is the High Altitude camp hosted by Kokopelli. We stay in Frisco, Colorado for 6 days and do beautiful runs, challenging workouts, and have some fun in Breckenridge, making lifelong friends. This camp is my favorite because I get to surround myself with some of the best runners in the State of CO and other states! Being with the best makes me the best. This is also a time to really focus on running. At nights we get to do fun things like ice skating, volleyball, soccer, shopping, or making goal sheets for the upcoming running seasons. I love to debate which is setting me up for my career interest in Family law. When I am not doing activities based on running, I love to play soccer, see movies and just hang out with my friends. My favorite type of vacation is a Cruise to visit many Islands and cultures in a small amount of time.
