I’m Lucas Klein and I go to Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs. My primary motivations for running include teammates, coaches, and competition. As a junior, I was a varsity member of our 4A state champion team, which also came out on top of the power merge comparing team times across all Colorado classifications at the state meet. I strive to succeed academically, taking 6 AP classes through junior year, and holding a weighted gpa of 4.15, and an unweighted gpa of 3.95. However, my true passion lies in non-AP classes. I have performed in concert band and jazz band since 7th grade, playing in the highest of three bands in my high school program since freshman year. In college, I will continue to bring a consistent, excited, and focused presence to every practice. I thrive in a team environment, and am willing to make sacrifices for the benefit of my team. I’m also a flexible athlete, willing to work with my coaches daily on changes to my training plan, whether that’s injury prevention exercises or increasing intensity and mileage. Regardless of where I go, what division I compete in, or what role I hold on the team, I am confident that I will be a valuable asset for any cross country and/or track and field program.
