From a young age, my parents and previous coaches taught me how to apply my best self to everything, from academics, to sports, to extracurriculars. Throughout the years (especially since the start of high school), I have learned the only way to perform my best in anything, is to stress dedication and mental fortitude above all. The two greatest factors in maintaining my dedication and persistence can be attributed to the amazing team atmosphere surrounding me and my love of lofty goals. My teammates and coaches make every practice fun and the hard things just a little bit easier, not to mention the complete support everyone has for one another. As for the goal setting, my short-term goal for every competition is simply to do the best I possibly can, meaning that as long as I undisputedly go 100%, I am happy with most performances, treating shortcomings as learning experiences. My long-term goals, such as improving 30 feet in the javelin throw sophomore year, or dropping minutes off my cross country times year over year, are sometimes laughed at or disregarded for being absurd by my teammates. These seemingly outlandish goals to others, give me a constant chase of greatness that demands nothing but dedication from my end, making my desire to reach the top and be my best self a reality.
Although I compete in a multitude of events, my best event and true passion as of now is the javelin throw. No matter what happens, however, I will continue to push my racing boundaries throughout high school, focusing on the pursuit of excellence in the 400 and 800-meter races. In the coming year, I will also experiment with multi-event competitions, something I have dreamed of for years and deeply look forward to.
I would like to attend a college with a great team climate, full of dedicated, like-minded athletes, pursuing success. It is also vital to me that I continue my education with serious rigor on my way to becoming an engineer.
