My name is Danny Malone and I'm a senior at North Haven High School. Athletics has always gone hand in hand with my education and I have strived to be the best person, athlete & teammate that I can be. I have been dedicated and committed to each sport and have rarely missed a practice or game. Participating in track & field, football and other sports over the years has taught me that there is a balance in life and that being a part of a team makes you want to give your best at everything you do. Competing in sports motivates me, even on days when I may be facing a challenge. Since my first soccer practice at the age of 5, I have always loved to run. As a Little League baseball player, my coaches and teammates commented on my speed as a runner. Football, which I have played consistently from 4th grade through all four years of high school, and the conditioning that goes with it have kept me physically active year-round. I would say my love for being outdoors, running and competing with my teammates and friends is my greatest pleasure in life. I started Track & Field in 6th grade and have run in all years since, both indoor & outdoor. My events have been 100m, 400m, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. I threw my first javelin as a sophomore and have gained more confidence each year with it. I made States in my sophomore year for the 4x4 and 4x2 relays in indoor track. Junior year I made States for indoor with those same events and outdoor for javelin. My senior season will start in a few months and I'm excited to see what that will bring. I see myself throwing & running in college as part of a competitive track & field team. After college I'd like to be a physical education teacher and coach, helping others to achieve their own goals and potentials, whether it be in sports, their careers or life in general. I've been lucky to have some great teachers, coaches & mentors over the years and would love to help other kids to realize their own goals and passions in life. Continuing my education at the college level is important to me as I know that I have more to learn and want to be the best that I can be.
